soooooo I woke up expecting the usual run of the mill boring Saturday when I got a text at 9am from eldest offspring, currently away at uni and been sick all week. Missing-lectures-sick-in-his bed- needed- the doctor- type sick, sending emails that left me wondering if I should go up this weekend and administer pots of chicken soup. Evidently I underestimated his powers of recovery,as he was texting to say he was in Glasgow for a 5-Uni Ultimate Frisbee tournament, and could I meet him in his lunchhour with a list of items he needed, and also buy him lunch? So off I trotted.
Met up with him-( and he was indeed coughing and spluttering), did lunch, then I asked if I could go back and watch a game of ultimate frisbee, as I had never seen one. He was up for it, so off I went.
It was really fun. I enjoyed every minute of it. Watched one game where he explained it all to me, then a second game where his uni were playing and he explained some more, well as much he could in between yelling calls to the teammates. And the kids were all really nice, too. For anyone who has never seen it- I decided Ultimate is like netball, but without the ball, and without the 'stay three feet away rule' also without nets, substitute the end zone. But apart from that, similar skills. I really enjoyed watching it.
Came home in a torrential downpour but that didn't matter. good stuff. |
